Installation of restored solid fuel antique fireplaces in Herne Hill (SE24) & Brixton (SW9)

In Herne Hill, South East London we supplied and installed a restored Victorian bedroom combination fireplace. The combination was installed along with a slate hearth for solid fuel use. Over in Brixton, South West London, we installed an Edwardian tiled combination for solid fuel use. The fireplace had been removed 2 weeks ago to allow us time to do the renovation. The fireplace was sandblasted and the painted with our heatproof matt black finish, the tiles were replaced with a set of Stovax reproduction fireplace tiles and installed on a 20mm slate hearth, cut in 2 to allow for expansion.

Fireplaces removed for restoration in Beckenham (BR3), Kent.

We removed 3 marble surrounds and 1 slate surround from a property in a private road in Beckenham, Kent. The property is being completely refurbed from top to bottom. The work is for an old customer and involves removing , restoring and refitting 4 surrounds and the cast iron inserts. One of the marble surrounds has been painted pink and the slate surround had the original green marble effect paint, looking forward to seeing them restored and refitted now.

Installation in Dulwich (SE21), South East London.

We installed an Abbey Fireplaces Thornton surround in white Marble, with slate hearth, slips and a rendered chamber for use with a stove in Dulwich. The surrounds a beautifully authentic reproduction of a Victorian surround in a stunning white marble, it works perfectly in a more modern setting due to its sleek lines. The slate hearth and slip sets it all off and the slips hide the exposed brick work caused by the differences in chamber opening and surround opening. In situ restoration of a fireplace in Muswell Hill (N10), North London

We installed a new slate hearth to an existing fireplace in Muswell Hill, North London. The fireplace was to be restored for use as a solid fuel fireplace without removal, which limited us to installing a template cut slate hearth, replacing the grate with a new cast iron grate and putting in a new firebrick. It was finished off with a replacement cast iron front bar and ashcover and a slate fender to disguise a change of floor level. Pics on soon.

Fireplaces installed in Peckham (SE15), South East London.

We installed 3 restored antique cast iron tiled combinations with tiled hearths for use as solid fuel fireplaces in Peckham (SE15). The van headed over to the other side of Cambridgeshire to pick up a huge industrial dust collector for our sandblaster, so big it nearly didn’t fit on the van.

Fireplace removed for restoration in Oval (SW9), South West London and first part of an installation in Catford (SE6), South East London.

We removed an antique Victorian cast iron tiled combination fireplace for restoration in Oval (SW9), the fireplace will be sandblasted and refinished in matt black before reinstalled with a slate hearth for solid fuel use and in Catford (SE6) we started an installation that requires a flue liner so the chamber was opened for measurements for the, gather to be taken, the gather connect the liner to the chamber with an open fire, once made and installed we can complete the solid fuel installation.

Fireplaces installed in Streatham (SW16), South West London and Surbiton (KT5), South West London.

In Surbiton (KT5), we supplied and installed a Gallery Fireplaces Tregaron cast iron combination with a granite hearth. The Victorian reproduction fireplace was installed for purely decorative purposes and not as a working fireplace. Streatham (SW16), we installed a marble fireplace that had been purchased from Gumtree. It was installed as a working fireplace and the installation involved removing the old remnants of a back boiler. When purchased the fireplace was missing a fireback and grate which we supplied for the customer.

Fireplaces installed in Forest Hill (SE23), South East London.

We supplied and installed an Abbey Fireplaces Whitby marble surround and black Sheldon arched insert with a bespoke slate hearth for solid fuel use in Forest Hill (SE23). The Abbey Fireplaces Whitby is a beautifully authentic Victorian corbel reproduction, in a stunning white Marble fitted along with the best selling Sheldon arch insert the result is stunning. Upstairs in the same property we supplied and installed a Carron Fireplaces Valentine combination. Carron Fireplaces do an amazing range of period reproduction cast iron combinations and surrounds. In the workshop a huge cast iron surround was blasted and polished, ready for delivery.

Fireplaces restored and fitted in Wandsworth (SW18) and Tonbridge (TN11).

In Wandsworth (SW18),  South West London, we refitted 2 antique cast iron combinations we had previously removed for restoration. Both of the original combination fireplaces were sandblasted and refinished in a subtle highlight finish. One was refitted on a slate hearth for use as a gas coal effect fireplace with supplied templated gas coal burner, the other was installed purely for decorative purposes. In Tonbridge (TN11), Kent, we returned to an old customers house to refit an original Victorian slate surround we had previously removed for restoration. The slate surround was stripped of all the old paint and separated into panels, then it was re-polished and rebuilt. The Victorian cast iron arched insert was sandblasted and then refinished in our heatproof matt black paint, the fireplace was refitted for solid fuel on a new slate hearth.

Fireplace fittings in Sidcup (DA14), Kent.

We installed 2 cast iron combinations, a period tiled combination fireplace with an electric fire and a cast iron combination fireplace for ornamental use only in Sidcup. Busy in the workshop finishing our trade deliverys for this week, all restored cast iron fireplaces, they’ve all been sandblasted and are now ready for the finishes to be applied.

Matching reclaimed cast iron surrounds and tiled inserts

A busy day full of site surveys in Brixton (SW2), Dulwich (SE21), East Dulwich (SE22), Hither Green (SE13) & Clapham (SW4). Managed to buy a beautiful matching pair of Edwardian cast iron surrounds and their original tiled inserts, the surrounds are in mint condition just needing sandblasting and refinishing. Up for sale soon.

Fireplace restoration and installations.

In the last few days we have supplied and installed a Carron Morris tiled combination in Brockley (SE4) for use as solid fuel fireplace with a slate hearth. For a customer in Herne Hill (SE24) we supplied an Abbey Fireplaces tiled insert and added an invisible extension to make the insert fit the customers existing original Edwardian wood surround, again installed with a slate hearth for use as a solid fuel fireplace. In Sutton (SM1) we templated a slate hearth on site to fit the existing original fireplace. We had previously restored their antique original Victorian cast iron tiled insert. For a customer in Clapham (SW4) we templated 2 slate hearths, each one in 2 sections to allow for expansion from use with a solid fuel fireplace, we also replaced the grates in 3 fireplaces, the firebricks and supplied 3 replacement front bar and ashcover sets. We also supplied a reclaimed restored original Victorian cast iron arched insert and custom made pine fire surround to be installed as a decorative feature only. We also removed an Edwardian cast iron surround and insert from Brentford (TW8), both surround and insert are due to be sandblasted, restored and  polished and reinstalled for use with a gel burner.
