We put the finishing touches to tomorrow’s trade deliverys of restored marble and cast iron fireplaces and several bits of modern furniture and light fittings for some of London’s most prestigious shops. Part of tomorrow’s delivery is the heaviest cost iron insert I have come across in 20 years, it takes 3 people to lift and even then its a struggle. The fireplace insert was restored, sandblasted and given an antique polished finish.Uncategorized
We fitted 2 fireplaces in the same house in Sevenoaks. The first was a Gallery Fireplaces Tulip cast iron insert, custom wood surround and slate hearth, the second was a Carron tiled combination fireplace and slate hearth. We previously installed an arched insert fireplace and wood surround for this customer and will be returning to install a wood burning stove shortly.Uncategorized
We finally finished the most stressful marble restoration we’ve undertaken. 3 antique Victorian Carrara marble fireplace surrounds, removed from a property 15 years ago and stored in a garden in about 80 pieces since then. To make it a bit more complicated we had no picture to use as a blueprint, so really pleased to finally be finished. Today we removed 2 cast iron surrounds and 2 tiled registers to be sandblasted and refinished in matt black and reinstalled with granite hearths in Wanstead (E11). Today we installed 2 matching fireplaces in a through-lounge. Matching Carron fireplace inserts, custom built wood surrounds and slate hearths. One of the fireplaces was installed as a working fireplace, unfortunately the property’s previous owner had removed the constructional sub-hearth. So before work could begin, it was necessary for the sub-hearth to be reinstated. Pics on http://www.facebook.com/rpsfireplaces asap.Uncategorized
We have been snowed under with Victorian and Edwardian arched insert fireplaces, some of them are just frames that we have had to replace all the other parts to rebuild and restore them to a working fireplace. When replacing parts on a fireplace, we have 3 options. 1) is to use off the shelf reproduction parts and make any required alterations or 2) use parts cast from patterns we keep, this is the more expensive option but gives a fantastic finish to a fireplace. 3) make the required part from scratch using our fabrication skills.Uncategorized
