And in the workshop…..

We put the finishing touches to tomorrow’s trade deliverys of restored marble and cast iron fireplaces and several bits of modern furniture and light fittings for some of London’s most prestigious shops. Part of tomorrow’s delivery is the heaviest cost iron insert I have come across in 20 years, it takes 3 people to lift and even then its a struggle. The fireplace insert was restored, sandblasted and given an antique polished finish.

Fireplace fitting in Sevenoaks (TN15), Kent.

We fitted 2 fireplaces in the same house in Sevenoaks. The first was a Gallery Fireplaces Tulip cast iron insert, custom wood surround and slate hearth, the second was a Carron tiled combination fireplace and slate hearth. We previously installed an arched insert fireplace and wood surround for this customer and will be returning to install a wood burning stove shortly.

Today in the workshop……..

We finally finished the most stressful marble restoration we’ve undertaken. 3 antique Victorian Carrara marble fireplace surrounds, removed from a property 15 years ago and stored in a garden in about 80 pieces since then. To make it a bit more complicated we had no picture to use as a blueprint, so really pleased to finally be finished. Pics on as soon as they are fitted.

Fireplace restorations in Wanstead (E11), East London.

Today we removed 2 cast iron surrounds and 2 tiled registers to be sandblasted and refinished in matt black and reinstalled with granite hearths in Wanstead (E11). Its usually a 4 week turnaround on restorations but these will be going back a bit quicker to help with various deadlines on the build, we always try our best to work with the customer.

Today in the workshop….

Back onto antique marble restorations for a few days now. We have a couple of big jobs that are approaching their deadlines. I spent today restoring two Victorian marble surrounds, one was a Victorian corbel surround and the other a flat Victorian surround. These are the two main types of Victorian surrounds. Really looking forward to seeing them fitted as working fireplaces again, as soon as they are fitted pics will be posted to as usual.

Today at the workshop……..

We began restoration on a stunning Victorian statuary white marble fireplace surround. With a limited rebuild budget, we managed to locate some statuary marble to use for replacement peices. So now its just a matter of polishing and rebuilding this stunning antique surround, looking forward to seeing this one fitted. Once the jobs complete we will upload the photos to

Fireplace fitting in Peckham Rye (SE15), South East London.

Today we installed 2 matching fireplaces in a through-lounge. Matching Carron fireplace inserts, custom built wood surrounds and slate hearths. One of the fireplaces was installed as a working fireplace, unfortunately the property’s previous owner had removed the constructional sub-hearth. So before work could begin, it was necessary for the sub-hearth to be reinstated. Pics on asap.

Meanwhile at the workshop……..

We have been snowed under with Victorian and Edwardian arched insert fireplaces, some of them are just frames that we have had to replace all the other parts to rebuild and restore them to a working fireplace. When replacing parts on a fireplace, we have 3 options. 1) is to use off the shelf reproduction parts and make any required alterations or 2) use parts cast from patterns we keep, this is the more expensive option but gives a fantastic finish to a fireplace. 3) make the required part from scratch using our fabrication skills.

Fireplace fittings in Mottingham (SE9), South East London & Wandsworth (SW18), South West London.

Another busy day out fitting in 2 opposite corners of London. In Wandsworth we installed a restored original Edwardian tiled combination fireplace and a tiled slate hearth for use as a solid fuel fireplace. While over in Mottingham we installed a slate hearth with slips and a wood surround, We also rendered the chamber with a special fireproof render. Check for photos as soon as we get 5 mins.

Deliverys day

Delivering restored antique fireplaces to Brighton in Sussex, Wimbeldon in South West London, Vauxhall in London and Old Kent Rd in South London. All in all a very busy day!! Looking forward to getting back in the workshop tomorrow!!

Today at the workshop………

We finished up all the restorations going out tomorrow including a stunning highlighted Art Nouveau tiled combination cast iron fireplace and a beautiful Victorian cast iron fireplace surround that has been finished in a traditional grate polish finish. We also got stuck into several chrome plated tables in need of repolishing for an upmarket London shop.

Today at the workshop…….

After a morning of site surveys we can get stuck into highlight polishing a beautiful Art Nouveau cast iron combination fireplace, a couple of Victorian arched insert fireplaces and a pretty Victorian combination fireplace. In my opinion you can’t beat a fireplace finished properly with grate polish, with no brush strokes they look amazing. Pics on

In the workshop…..

Nice to be back working on cast iron today. As well as several standard restorations we also made a steel replacement shelf and recast a firebrick in a beautiful arched insert. We sandblasted an unusual Art Deco combination fireplace and refinished in a traditional lead black finish and replaced the shelf. Pics up on soon.
