We removed an antique Victorian cast iron surround from a beautiful period property over looking Hyde Park. The surround is to be sandblasted back to bare metal and then given a light coat of a heat proof matt black acid etch paint. Once sprayed we will then polish off the paint with abrasive wheels, creating a pewter like effect while the remaining paint pushes the detail forward.
We will put some before and after pics up soon. Uncategorized

We’ve got an unusually high amount of antique period stone fireplaces in the workshop at the minute. Its amazing how great a 150 year old marble surround cleans up once we have taken it apart and stripped and re-polished the pieces before finally rebuilding the surrounds from scratch and finally levelling off the legs with our wet table saw. The end result is always very pleasing. We will pop some pictures up early next week if the finished fireplaces. Uncategorized
We are currently waiting on some work to finish on our new unit so we can move in and get the sandblaster and new workshop setup, its twice the size of the old one!
Looking forward to having everything in one place!!

We were working at 2 properties in East Dulwich today, less than a 5 minute apart (Friern rd and Llandels Rd). Both houses were having original period cast iron fireplaces and wood surrounds fitted with tiled hearths.
We also fitted a new firebrick in situ in an original fireplace in Streatham (SW12), South West London and a full day in the workshop catching up with some trade restorations. Uncategorized
Original fireplace to house, stored in garage for years
Amazing discovery while blasting, someone had for some reason covered the entire fireplace with filler. They had done such a neat job that no-one realised until blasting started.
What was a very clunky plain surround, suddenly has an amazing amount of detail. Stunning cast iron surround.
And here is the fireplace finally restored into a traditional grate polish finish and installed with a slate hearth for use as a solid fuel fireplace.
